Can we grow oak to 60 cm DBH in under 100 years in Britain? This is the intriguing question that will be examined during a visit to Crumblands Plantation in Monmouthshire hosted by Woodland Heritage, Forest Research and Natural Resources Wales.
The event takes place on 19th April 2018 and will explore how the research at Crumblands compares with the mass of data accumulated by French managers over 30 years and encapsulated in Jean Lemaire’s book ‘Oak: fine timber in 100 years’. The day will be chaired by Professor Julian Evans OBE and speakers are Dr Gary Kerr (Forest Research), Geraint Richards (Head Forester for the Duchy of Cornwall) and Graham Taylor MBE (Pryor and Rickett Silviculture).
