Scaling up zero carbon homes in a climate emergency – the essential role for timber
Climate emergencies have been declared by organisations, local authorities, and national governments around the world. Now it is time for action across all sectors, from land use through to housing supply.
How can we build more homes faster at better quality whilst reducing our carbon footprint when material production is one of the biggest drivers in CO2 emissions? As referenced in a range of climate reports, timber has an essential part to play in addressing the climate emergency, in responding to our housing needs today and in the future, and it can help to establish a foundational economy in Wales.
WoodBUILD 2020 will explore how we can scale up the delivery of zero carbon homes in the context of a climate emergency and how timber can be used to reduce in-use carbon emissions and embodied carbon.
The one day conference and expo will bring together people and organisations from policy through to practitioners on the journey towards delivering zero carbon homes as a mainstream solution. Be inspired to drive positive change by our keynote speakers. Hear about key learnings from the Home-Grown Homes Project and discuss their potential impact with the research team and Welsh government. Discover new products and construction solutions. Be the change and join the BIG Debate on how to scale up zero carbon homes today rather than tomorrow!
Event highlights include:
● Expert speakers on timber based house manufacturing, building performance and carbon mitigation strategies
