The importance of trees to the future of our planet features in a new film. Our Planet is a four-year collaboration between Netflix, Silverback Films and WWF. Sir David Attenborough narrates the short film on ‘How to restore Forests’ (less than eight minutes in length). ‘We’ve taken trees for granted’ he says in explaining why we need trees. We’ve cleared nearly half of the planet’s forests but the future states Attenborough can be positive – we need to give trees the opportunity to draw on their natural resilience by protecting ancient forests (forever), managing our natural forests better and farming trees to create a new generation of plantations. He imagines our future – one where we’ll have protected our ancient forests, be able to harvest all the timber we’ll ever need, have stabilised our climate and have more natural forest than any of us have ever known.
