Carmarthenshire County Council are set to establish their own housing company under plans announced in November 2017.

Like other County Councils in the UK, Carmarthenshire is setting up its own housing company with the expressed aim of increasing the number of new build houses in its locality. In England it is thought that very soon over half of all councils will have their own housing companies. One of the advantages this offers councils is that they are free of the rules that constrain the building of social housing such as the right to buy and housing revenue account borrowing caps.

Woodknowledge Wales will be looking for opportunities to work with the new company to promote the use of timber in Carmarthen housing projects.
