Invited participants explored how they can help shape the development of Welsh timber industries from forests to buildings. The output from three workshops will be used to inform how construction clients, housing associations and local authorities can help to catalyse and support innovation and growth within the forest industries sector to provide reliable local supply chains that benefit Welsh forestry, jobs, economic growth, as well as help to improve the natural and built environments.

The positive ‘future casting’ approach of the workshops helped participants step outside current challenges and constraints to explore radically different and innovative development strategies. The workshop outcomes will also inform the industry decision-making tools being developed by Woodknowledge Wales, Powys County Council and the Home-Grown Homes Partnership.
