Structural Timber Frame – the solution to the housing crisis
In a career spanning over 40 years, Andrew Carpenter, CEO of the Structural Timber Association, has played an active part in the construction industry, focusing on business development, best practice and technical Health & Safety guidance – particularly in relation to fire. He is also a Director of Constructing Excellence in the South West.
Andrew joined the UKTFA as CEO in January 2011 and oversaw the rebrand to the Structural Timber Association in 2013 and is now very much at the centre of the sustainable construction agenda, whilst continuing to promote structural timber products and systems within the UK construction industry.
In 2006, Andrew joined Constructing Excellence until 2008 when Government funding was withdrawn so became a consultant for them and other ‘best practice’ organisations. Previously Andrew has worked for CRH (Cement Roadstone Holdings) from 1977-2005. This included Forticrete Ltd (concrete blocks), Ibstock Brick (clay bricks) and F.I.Systems (Offsite Steel Frame).
