Gary explained the background to this event held on 14 November 2018 and summarised activity and progress since the first event held as part our campaign on timber windows which was held earlier in the year. At the end of the presentations Gary chaired a question and answers session which addressed three areas:
Clients – what are the barriers to them specifying wood windows?
Manufacturers – what are the supply barriers to them supplying the social housing market with wood windows?
Processors – what are the barriers to using home grown timber?

Gary Newman – Woodknowledge Wales
Gary is the Chief Executive of Woodknowledge Wales (WKW) and is also founder and Chair of the Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (www.asbp.org.uk). Gary is a construction engineer by training and early career. After completing a wood science masters at Bangor University, Gary established Plant Fibre Technology Ltd and has been instrumental in taking a number of plant-based products from concept to market.
