This new partnership strengthens collaboration between the UK and Wales’ leading timber organisations—uniting efforts to grow a low-carbon, high-value forest and construction industry.

Woodknowledge Wales and Timber Development UK (TDUK) are pleased to announce a new contra-membership agreement—a strategic partnership designed to enhance collaboration across the forestry and timber supply chain and deliver greater value to our respective members.
Under the agreement, Woodknowledge Wales and TDUK have become members of one another’s organisations, recognising our shared commitment to accelerating the use of timber in the built environment, supporting sustainable forestry, and driving innovation across the sector.
As a result, all current and future members of TDUK and Woodknowledge Wales will benefit from reciprocal collaboration, events and opportunities. This includes shared learning, joint communications, and enhanced visibility across both networks. Our aim is to foster a more connected, informed and effective timber community—from forest to finished building.
“We’re delighted to welcome TDUK as a member of Woodknowledge Wales,” said Gary Newman, CEO of Woodknowledge Wales. “This agreement strengthens our longstanding relationship and offers practical benefits for members of both organisations. It reflects our belief that collaboration—not competition—is the key to growing a more resilient, low-carbon timber industry across the UK.”
TDUK is the UK’s largest timber supply chain organisation, bringing together importers, merchants, manufacturers, designers and contractors to support timber use and improve technical standards. Woodknowledge Wales is a for-public-good membership alliance and community benefits society that works to transform the forestry and housing sectors in Wales through innovation, research, and systems thinking.
“By deepening our relationship through this contra-membership model, we can better align our resources, amplify each other’s work, and help ensure timber is at the heart of a more sustainable construction future,” Gary added.
We invite all members to explore the work of our partner organisation and consider where new connections, learning, and collaborations can grow.
Together, we can do more to make timber work for people, place and planet.
