The Regenerative Materials First Hub brings together industry pioneers committed to transforming construction through sustainable innovation.

The Regenerative Materials First hub kicked off its first meeting in Cardiff this week with a full house of collaborative organisations and collective minds. Led by Woodknowledge Wales’ Louise Townsend, the Hub will become a transformational group for innovators in construction.
Members of the Hub discussed how KPIs that could be mapped alongside better client briefs, and involvement of project delivery teams at an earlier point in the construction journey. It is proposed that the skills gap in construction and service provision in the value chain be identified and engagement with HE colleges that offer transformative training for students in the field, form part of the Hub’s work.
Curated by Woodknowledge Wales and sponsored by Reconomy Social Enterprise, the Hub unites a diverse group of organisations from across the building construction industry, all committed to fostering transformation throughout the supply chain. Focusing on active construction projects between 2025 and 2028, this transformative partnership aims to develop and implement innovative methods for sourcing and building with sustainable materials like locally sourced timber and recycled steel.
The Hub will advance the viability of the use of regenerative materials in construction as mainstream options, and develop new ways of working, business opportunities and network creation, through capacity building through mutual learning and support.
The Hub brings together a curated collective of supply chain professionals and their organisations, ranging from architects to insurers, from engineers to building contractors, from cost consultants to manufacturers, from public or private client organisations to salvage companies. Its aim is to provide a space for knowledge sharing and mutual support, creating connections and seizing opportunities to overcome common barriers, solving procurement challenges and increasing positive impact by working together on tangible projects.
