This workshop will be a combination of ‘live’ attendees and a virtual audience. You will hear from the creators of the DNZ Pattern Book and other industry experts about the need for energy-efficient low carbon, affordable homes. This will require new design and delivery models and a change in the way homes are designed, built and procured. You will hear about the aggregated demand from 22 Welsh Housing Associations who, working alongside Welsh Government, have committed to a collaborative approach to designing and delivering energy-efficient new homes for their tenants.

As well as hearing from industry experts, the workshop will encourage contributions from the audience to help agree the best way to deploy the DNZ pattern book at scale to an aggregated pipeline.

About our speakers

Mark Davies is Director of CE Wales and a Board Member at Cadwyn Housing Association. Constructing Excellence in Wales is the united voice of the Welsh built environment sector, representing each part of its supply chain. They work with all different elements of construction with both large and small organisations in the public and private sectors to help the industry to improve its performance to deliver better quality and value for money to its clients and end users.

Rob Wheaton is Associate Director Architect at Stride Treglown. Rob is fascinated by designing buildings that are responsive to their context and strive for the highest level in sustainable design. He is an architect leading residential and mixed-use projects run from our Cardiff studio. With vast experience of designing and delivering innovative housing, he is adept at steering projects through complex planning processes and advising clients on design with a view to creating something truly transformative. Rob is also a qualified Passivhaus designer.

Steve Cranston co leads Delivering Net Zero project – a  collaboration of 22 Welsh social landlords who are working to use their aggregated pipeline demand to bring forward the next generation of off site manufactured homes that will achieve a step change in carbon performance. He is a proud grandad and enjoys being outdoors – walking, gardening and sailing.
