Engage contractors to practically implement Tai ar y Cyd resources in housing projects, fostering collaboration and aligning with social housing and low-carbon timber use goals.

This is new Community of Practice (CoP) is targeted at contractors who want to use more timber in their housing developments. This emerging CoP will be hosted in collaboration with Woodknowledge Wales and the Tai ar y Cyd project team.

Discussions during this inaugural event will focus on how to use the Tai ar y Cyd Pattern Book, Performance Specification and Design Guideto build new affordable homes.

This CoP will be of particular interest to contractors and professional consultants who tender for work to build social housing, bring pakcakge deals to social landlords, and are involved in section 106 planning agreements that include social housing.

About Tai ar y Cyd

Steve Cranston and his team has worked with Millrace Marketing to rebrand what was known as the Delivering Net Zero project. Tai ar y Cyd unites 23 social landlords, industry experts, and the Welsh Government to tackle two crises: housing and climate.

About Woodknowledge Wales’ Communities of Practice

Communities of Practice (CoP) promote an open and collaborative approach which enables the participation of a diverse network of organisations, both across supply chains as well as within trades.

Our CoPs gather professionals of the same trade or supply chain level around a shared challenge or opportunity. They are an essential part of our work, guiding what we focus upon as well as informing and validating outputs across our projects. This approach helps to extend impacts and accelerate shared learning within and across the supply chain.

Our CoPs are centred around practical solutions and capacity building and give members the opportunity to prototype innovative approaches together with others. Each community defines its own agenda and schedule of actions based on the needs of its members. Woodknowledge Wales ensures flow of information between CoPs, so that we can progress together.
