“Powys County Council is determined to develop innovative solutions to address the loss of young economically active households from our communities by creating jobs in the growth, harvesting, processing and manufacture of homes from natural timber resources grown in rural communities.”

Simon Inkson, Head of Housing, Powys CC

And so the Home Grown Homes project was conceived – and the Home Grown Homes Partnership was born.

The partnership supported by WKW, brings together Powys County Council’s Housing and Regeneration Services, the Welsh Local Government Association, Community Housing Cymru, Natural Resources Wales along with local social housing providers Wales and West Housing Association, Grwp Cynefin, Mid-Wales Housing, Newydd Housing Group, Pobl Group, Pennaf Housing Group and Melin Homes.

The project is funded through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
