Dr Liz Walder
Liz is responsible for all our events at Woodknowledge Wales, as well as supporting the whole team in operational management. Liz has worked in architecture and design for over 20 years, both at the RIBA and RSAW, and has worked in practice, first with Gillard Associates Architecture & Design, with Darnton B3 Architecture (now DB3), and finally as co-chair of female architectural practice, Architecture Matters. In addition, Liz has also run a successful events and communications consultancy, Communication Crossroads, since 2013.
More recently, Liz taught the History & Theory module to BSc Architecture students in the School of Architecture, Construction and the Environment, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, and the Reflective Practice module to MArch students at the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering, Loughborough University. She is also a moderator of The Architecture Social, and is Academic Director of ARC-ex, an independent Part 3 in Architecture course.
Liz’s career is defined by her research into, and commitment to, supporting better pathways for women in construction, a journey which was established from the outputs of her PhD, written on the subject of the Royal Gold Medal of the RIBA, and completed in 2012.
