Ben is Director of Programmes at Woodknowledge, where he leads Root to Market, a procurement vehicle for natural and low-carbon materials. He is a Chartered Environmentalist and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

Ben is an experienced sustainability consultant who, before joining Woodknowledge, worked on projects across London, the UK and Europe. At Elliott Wood he led the sustainability team, playing a part in growing it from its inception into an established consultancy unit working on high-profile schemes across the built environment.

Working at that scale shaped his belief that the sector needs to do more than reduce harm. That led him towards regenerative practice, through the Regenerative Design Lab and by contributing to the UK Green Building Council’s Regenerative Places framework. His focus is on how buildings are procured, sourced and made, and on shifting those systems towards ones that give more back to the living world.
